Theft from Poundland and B&M and damaging shop windows at Subway, Lidl and Ladbrokes: Defendants from Sunderland, South Tyneside and East Durham in court

The following cases were heard at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court:

Terry Paul Donaldson, 37, of St Leonard Street, Sunderland, admitted breaching a community order and was given a three-month drugs rehabilitation order.

Kelly Anne Hodgson, 43, of Roseville Street, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft and one of failing to surrender to custody. She was given a 12-month community order, which included being banned from Tesco Roker Retail Park for three months. She was told to pay £169.99 in compensation, £85 costs and a £90 surcharge.

Max McKenna, 18, of Charles Street, Boldon, was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a surcharge of £16 after admitting possession of a class C drug.

John David McGloen, 39, of Bailey Rise, Peterlee, was given a 12-month community order with 200 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to three charges of theft and failing to surrender to custody. He was also ordered to pay £400 in compensation.

Karl Edgar, 26, of Walsh Avenue, Hebburn, pleaded guilty to three charges of damaging shop windows in South Shields, at Subway, Lidl and Ladbrokes. He was given a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £750 in compensation.

Kevin Alfred Cruickshanks, 40, of Devonshire Street, South Shields, was fined £180 after he admitted driving whilst disqualified, without insurance and without a test certificate. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a surcharge of £32. He was also given six penalty points.

Scott Micham, 33, of Castle View, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to two charges of speeding. He was fined a total of £318 and given six penalty points. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a surcharge of £32.

Reece Brown, 18, of no fixed abode, was given a three-month conditional discharge after he pleaded guilty to stealing a DVD player from B&M in South Shields. He was ordered to pay a surcharge of £21.

Samantha Doran, 34, of Dawson Terrace, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to four charges of stealing items from Poundland, including toiletries, clothing and earphones. She was ordered to pay £20 in compensation.
