Hartlepool's praise for "wonderful" wedding vow renewal for "lovely" couple who are both battling cancer

Dot and Bob who are both fighting cancer finally renewed their wedding vows in style, thanks to Hartlepool charity Miles for Men and Hartlepool residents have praised the fantastic day.

Bob and Dot Flanagan finally got their dream wedding on Saturday, February 15.

The couple, of Rift House, have been married for almost 53 years and hoped to renew their vows on their 50th anniversary but sadly, Dot was too poorly.

Finally, they renewed their vows at the AVenue Ballroom & Function Room in Hartlepool and Miles For Men worked with a long list of local companies to make the day special. Dot even finally got to wear her dream dress that she couldn't wear the first time around.

Dot, 68, is currently fighting lung and lymph-node cancer for the fourth time, and Bob, 73, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Harlepool residents joined in praise for the spectacular day and shared their congratulations to the couple.

Mo Payne said: “Congratulations Bob and Dot from Mo and all at Drive Vauxhall.”
