Such a great story-teller

What a lovely surprise to see the photograph of Mr Noble leading the Seaton Carew School choir.

He was my form teacher in 1969/70.

I think he was deputy head of the school too, Miss Turnbull being headmistress.

He may also have been the organist at Holy Trinity Church.

He certainly played the organ at all of our nativity plays held in the church.

However, my fondest memory of him was of everyone riveted to their seats as he read us the book, Ben Hur.

This was before any of us had seen the film, I’m sure.

He also read us The Kon-Tiki Expedition: By Raft Across the South Seas by Norwegian Thor Heyerdahl.

I remember Mr Noble as being a fairly quiet man, but he was a great storyteller.

I loved my time at Seaton school, and this picture brought back many very happy memories.
