Former Hartlepool United loanee Macauley Southam-Hales has been linked with a return to the Football League.

The Welsh right-back impressed during his brief stint at Victoria Park at the back end of the 2019-20 season while on loan from Fleetwood Town. He went on to join Pools’ National League rivals Stockport County last summer and has now been linked with Championship and League One sides.

Football Insider claim that Southam-Hales, who has made 22 appearances for Stockport so far this season, is attracting interest from Huddersfield Town, Hull City and Lincoln City.

However, Huddersfield have already disputed the claims and distanced themselves from a potential deal, according to Yorkshire Live.

Elsewhere, Pools’ next opponents Chesterfield have been linked with the potential marquee signing of Bradford City striker Danny Rowe

Derbyshire Times claim that The Spireites are looking to boost their attacking options following a long-term injury to top scorer Akwasi Asante with Rowe understood to be available.

The 32-year-old scored just shy of 200 goals for AFC Fylde under the management of current Pools boss Dave Challinor between 2014 and 2019 before stepping up to the Football League with Oldham Athletic in 2020.

Pools have been looking for a striker with loan forward Richie Bennett likely to return to his parent club Stockport in the coming weeks.

And the two time National League player of the season and golden boot winner would be a huge signing for any fifth tier side ahead of the player registration deadline at 5pm on Thursday evening.
