Hartlepool United defender Ryan Johnson has extended his stay at Victoria Park until the end of the 2020-21 season.

This comes straight after fellow defender Jamie Sterry had his stay at the club confirmed.

Johnson arrived at Pools from Kidderminster Harriers in the summer initially on a one-month contract which was later extended to a half-season deal.

But following an impressive return of four goals in 16 National League matches this season, the 24-year-old has been rewarded with another extension.

Following the announcement, Pools manager Dave Challinor told the club website: “Ryan has become an integral part of our team since coming in on trial pre season.

"His opportunity came early with Lids injury at Chesterfield and he’s absolutely taken it. His performances have become more consistent and he’s improving all the time. We believe we can improve him even more as a player and are looking forward to doing that between now and the end of the season.”
